Preparing for your photoshoot!

Families and  Couples

I like to take a relaxed and fun approach to every photoshoot.  The most important aspect for me is to capture you and your loved ones together as naturally as I can.  I don't use any strict posing techniques or elaborate props.  I absolutely love taking photos that capture the true essence of people and relationships.  So my main advice is to come a bit early so that we can chat and find a great spot together, and don't take things too seriously.  Relax and have fun with it.

For some more helpful tips, see a short list below!

1.  Prepare the kids and get them excited about it.

2. Think ahead about any props or outfits you want to include.

3. Coordinate your outfits rather than match.  Wear something you're comfortable in.

4. Bring something to occupy little ones in between photos.

5. Think about location.  I will help with this but if you have a location in mind be sure to let me know :)

Newborn

Newborns run their own schedule.  With two kids of my own I totally understand this and am very patient and flexible.  Most importantly, make sure that your little one has a full belly before we begin the shoot.  The best time for newborn photos is between 3 and 4 weeks.  This is a good time frame as baby will likely sleep through most of the shoot.

Definitely keep the house warm for this day.  We will be wrapping baby up but there will be some photos with minimal clothing on the little peanut so we don't want the space to be too cold.  I will bring a portable heater just incase!

See the list below for more helpful tips!

1. Roll with the punches and expect the unexpected.  Newborns are so unpredictable and that's ok!

2. Keep baby full and comfortable.

3. Allow a couple of hours incase we have a lot of waiting for baby to settle between feeds, changes or photos.

3. Don't stress.  Whether we get cries, messy diapers, or stretched out feeding sessions.  I'm ok with it and will go with the flow.
